Apple Brings iMac Graphics Firmware Fix

Apple has released a fix for some users experiencing freezing on the 20 and 24 inch aluminum iMacs that have the ATi Radeon HD 2600 Pro graphics card. The iMac graphics firmware update for Macs running Tiger with the iMac Software Update 1.2.1 or Leopard with iMac Software Update 1.3. These are available via Software Update or from the Apple website.

Apple Brings Final Cut Express 4

Apple has sure been busy with software releases for the Mac lately (for what some claim is an iPod/iPhone company). Final Cut Express 4, is now available, the latest version of the video editing package based on the more elaborate Final Cut Pro 6.

Sporting some new features and several upgrades such as support for new AVCHD cameras and Open Format Timeline, which allows users to place DV, HDV and AVCHD videos on the same continuum, rearranging in real-time. Clips are then automatically scaled, cropped and adjusted for framerate, with the initial clip serving as a template. Resolution is limited to 720p or 1080i.

Apple Releases Mac OS X 10.5.1 Leopard Update

LeopardApple has released an important update to the latest release of OS X. Leopard 10.5.1 brings lots of fixes and bug squashes. I am hopeful it will fix an iDisk Sync problem I found on my new iMac just today where a bug in Leopard filled my entire 500 GB hard drive.

This Leopard update is recommended for all users bringing more than a dozen fixes for AirPort, Back to My Mac, Disk Utilities, iCal, Mail, Networking, Printing, Security/Firewall, System and Finder, and Time Machine. The update is available via the Apple website [110MB] or by simply firing up Software Update located under the Apple menu.

Apple Brings Updates to Everyone

Fire up your Software Update application. Apple has released updates for Tiger [10.4.11], Safari 3 for Windows [3.04] and iPhoto [7.1.1] plus security updates for Panther.

Not to leave out pro users Apple has released a slew of updates for their Pro apps including Color [1.0.2], Motion [3.0.2], Compressor [3.0.2], Final Cut Pro [6.0.2], Pro Applications Update 2007-02, DVD Studio Pro [4.2.1], Cinema Tools [4.0.1] and Soundtrack Pro [2.0.2].

MacBook Pro Update for Tiger Released

Apple has released MacBook Pro Software Update 1.2 designed to improve graphics stability for the 2.2GHz and 2.4GHz MacBook Pros running Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. Software Update 1.2 is available through Software Update, or as a download at the Apple Support Web site.
